Species Foundation Selects New Director
Scott Vergara, an instructor in horticulture at South Seattle Community College, has been selected as the new director of the Rhododendron Species Foundation(RSF) in Federal Way, Wash., replacing John Fitzpatrick, who has taken a position at The Garden Conservancy in New York.
Vergara, a resident of the Puget Sound area, has worked as a volunteer at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden in propagation and plant distribution. He holds a B.S. degree from Ohio State University and has done postgraduate work at OSU, Rutgers and Washington State University.
The open hours at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden are: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., Mon., Tues., Wed. during January and February and 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. daily except for Thursday during March, April and May.
