JARS v56n3 - In Memoriam: Reid Bahnson
In Memoriam: Reid Bahnson
Robert L. Means
Dr. Reid Bahnson died on Jan. 14, 2002. He was a longtime active member of the Piedmont Chapter and a Bronze Medal recipient. For many years he focused his attention on the creation of a good yellow-blooming elepidote and evergreen azalea. He corresponded with and visited many other hybridizers, including Dr. August Kehr and John Lofthouse. Prior to his death arrangements were made to move his plant material to the Tanglewood Park Arboretum in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Perhaps a yellow flower selection may become my old friend's most important gift to the arboretum.
