Tech alumni gather in Beijing
Spectrum Volume 20 Issue 07 - October 9, 1997
Eleven Virginia Tech alumni gathered last July in Beijing at the Soil and Fertilizer Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Visiting Professors Bob Jones of the Department of Biology, Jeryl Jones of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, and Paul Mou of the Department of Forestry welcomed the group and spoke of recent changes and progress at Virginia Tech. Participants spoke about their positions and connections to Virginia Tech. The visiting professors reported that they enjoyed the opportunity to connect with alumni from Beijing. They said they encourage others to make an effort to experience this eye-opening opportunity.
The meeting was a part of the university's Hokies Abroad Program which connects faculty members traveling abroad to alumni in various countries. Those planning to travel to another country in 1998 who are interested in connecting with other alumni should call or e-mail Lynn Young at 1-4009 ( youngl@vt.edu ). Faculty or staff members who are interested in meeting with prospective students in other countries, should call or e-mail Lee Drowne at 1-6272 ( drowne@vt.edu ) as soon as possible, as it takes several months to plan a meeting.
