- OBIT BARBOUR, ARRON CLINE, 73, OF 1432 EAST MONTCLAIR STREET, BLUEFIELD, W. VA.,DIED WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 1996 AT BLUEFIELD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. A NATIVE OF ABBS VALLEY, VA., HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE FLOYD W. AND FANNIE E. BARBOUR. HE HAD RESIDED IN BLUEFIELD FOR ALMOST FIFTY YEARS. MR. BARBOUR WAS ACHARTER MEMBER OF THE EDGEMONT BAPTIST CHURCH, WHERE HE HAD SERVED AS DEACON AND SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER. HE WAS CHAIRMAN OF THE ORIGINAL BUILDING COMMITTEE FOR THE CHURCH. ACTIVE IN ORGANIZATIONS FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN, HE HAD BEEN PRESIDENT OF THE MERCER COUNTY ASSOCIATION FOR RETARDED CITIZENS AND PRESIDENT OF THE MERCER COUNTY OPPORTUNITY WORKSHOP FOR THE HANDICAPPED. HE WAS ALSO ACTIVE IN THE WORK OF THE GIDEONS AND WAS A PAST MEMBER OF THE CUMBERLAND HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB. HE ATTENDED POCAHONTAS HIGH SCHOOL AND BLUEFIELD COLLEGE AND SERVED IN THE U. S. ARMY IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER DURING WORLD WAR II. DURING THAT TIME, HE ALSO ATTENDED OXFORD UNIVERSITY. MR. BARBOUR WAS RETIRED FROM THE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COMPANY, WHERE HE HELD THE POSITION OF DISTRICT SALES MANAGER. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS, HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER, RALPH A. BARBOUR AND A SISTER, MILDRED BARBOUR SHUMATE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE, IMOGENE DAVIS BARBOUR; TWO SONS, LARRY C. BARBOUR, OF THE HOME AND MARK J. BARBOUR, BLACKSBURG; THREE GRANDCHILDREN, LANCE J. BARBOUR, BLUEFIELD, W. VA., ARRON AND JONAH BARBOUR, BOTH OF BLACKSBURG; DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, DEBO RAH S. BARBOUR; THREE BROTHERS, PAUL K. BARBOUR, PITTSFIELD, MASS., ROBERT T. BARBOUR, LITTLETON, COLORADO, AND JOHN D. BARBOUR, BRISTOL, TENN. THE FUNERAL WILL BE 10 A.M. SATURDAY, JANUARY 6, 1996, AT MERCER FUNERAL HOME IN BLUEFIELD, WITH THE REVEREND ROBERT WILSON OFFICIATING. ENTOMBMENT WILL BE AT WOODLAWN MEMORIAL PARK IN BLUEWELL. FRIENDS WILL BE RECEIVED FRIDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME FROM 5 TO 7 P.M. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY SUGGESTS THAT MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS BE MADE TO THE MERCERCOUNTY OPPORTUNITY WORKSHOP FOR THE HANDICAPPED, GLENWOOD PARK, BLUEFIELD, W. VA. MERCER FUNERAL HOME, BLUEFIELD, W. VA., IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS. BOOKER, JAMES JUDSON JR., 88, OF WYTHEVILLE, AND FORMERLY OF CHESAPEAKE, DIED WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 1996. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE JAMES JUDSON AND MYRTLE HALL BOOKE R. HE WAS A LIFELONG EDUCATOR. HE RECEIVED HIS MASTER'S DEGREE FROM WILLIAM AND MARY, AND DID FURTHER GRADUATE STUDY AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA. HE HELD PRINCIPALSHIP AT THREE DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOLS. HE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN COMMUNITY AFFAIRS. HE IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, DR. JAMES JUDSON BOOKER III, WYTHEVILLE; ONE DAUGHTER, ELIZABETH B. WILSON, RICHMOND; ONE SISTER, FLORENCE M. BOOKER, CLEARWATER, FLA.; ONE BROTHER, E. DERWIN BOOKER, FARNHAM; THREE GRANDCHILDREN, MARGARET BOOKER SPROULE, ANDERSON, S.C.; JAMES JUDSON BOOKER IV, WYTHEVILLE, DAVID JOHNWILSON, RICHMOND. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE SATURDAY AT 11 A.M. AT THE FARNHAM BAPTIST CHURCH, FARNHAM. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS AT THE ELMORE-CURRIE FUNERAL HOME IN KILMARNOCK FRIDAY FROM 7 TO 9 P.M. HE WAS A VIETNAM VETERAN. HE IS SURVIVED BY TWO SISTERS, EARNESTINE YEATTS OF PORTLAND, ORE., AND ETTA LEE TOMLIN OF MONROE. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE AT 1 P.M. SATURDAY AT THE MABERRY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, FLOYD, WITH THE REV. KENNETH PAYNE OFFICIATING.
