A headline with a MetroNews story Friday on college restructuring
plans had an error. A statement that colleges must be more specific
or face cuts in state funding came from state Education Secretary
Beverly Sgro, not the State Council of Higher Education.

Several lines were missing from a MetroNews story Friday about
the proposed sale of a 540-acre parcel owned by the College of
William and Mary. The last paragraph, which quotes student body
president Greg Werkheiser, should have stated:
``It is essential,'' he said, ``that the message be sent very
clearly to the governor and the commission that there are thousands
of members of the college community, local community and alumni
around the state who are adamantly opposed to the proposals.''

U.S. Rep. Robert C. ``Bobby'' Scott, the Democratic candidate for
Virginia's 3rd Congressional District, is 47 years old. He defeated
Republican Daniel Jenkins in 1992 with 79 percent of the vote. A
story Friday had errors. Also, a map with the story did not reflect
some boundary changes in the district. A corrected map will run in
the voters guide Tuesday.
